2017

Ongar, which was founded in May 2017

A Few Years back in 2017 a bunch of Cricket loving friends got together and started to play Tennis ball cricket in Latchford Ground, situated in the Ongar area. Gradually this attracted people from nearby estates and within a few months we were playing friendly games on weekends. One thing led to another and we ended up with around 40 players by the end of 6 months. We gradually got ourselves involved in Leinster Cricket and this led to few of our players playing for Cricket Leinster Open Divisions. Many of our players now play in Division 8 to Division 16 in the Leinster League. Since then there has been no looking back for us. We have grown strong day by day to be a very big cricket loving club in Dublin 15 area.

ABOUT US

Ongar Cricket Club (OCC) was formed in March 2018 by a group of friends who loved the game of cricket. Over the years, Ongar has grown to be a cricket loving community, with young boys and girls fancy playing this game. OCC has been actively involved in providing the right path for young children to learn and take up sport seriously.

Few of OCC players are also actively involved in officiating the game (official umpires registered with Cricket Leinster) and many are involved in coaching young boys and girls in the community. This way, we are making all the efforts in taking the game to grass root level.

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES OF THE CLUB

  • Our aim and goal is to extend the support to other sports as well and commit ourselves as Sporting Club rather than only being a Cricket Club.
  • Our mission is to make sports accessible to everyone who wants to play by providing the right training, guidance and support which may be required.
  • Foster and promote participation of the community in cricket and other sports.
  • Honour the Spirit of Sports and encourage appropriate standards of behaviour throughout the club and its shared premises.
  • Provide facilities for playing cricket and other sports, coaching and competition
  • Manage the shared grounds which are for the use of members of the club and its invited guests only.
